Information on the Diplomatic Conference to Sign the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs DIPCON) in Stockholm, Sweden

 

 

Welcome to the electronic Press Room established to facilitate media coverage of the diplomatic conference to sign the POPs treaty.  The conference takes place 22-23 May 2001 at the City Conference Centre, Folkets Hus, Barnhusgatan, Stockholm, Sweden.

 

This Press Room gives you access to information and documents directly or via links to our POPs Homepage. You will find the press accreditation form, local and hotel information (including a contact for hotel reservations) as well as the meeting schedule. We will add other documents as they become available.  

 

The meeting is formally known as the Conference of Plenipotentiaries for the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants. On Monday 21 May, there will be a preparatory meeting in the same venue to finalize proposals for resolutions for consideration by the Conference.

 

Through this site, you can access the report from INC-5 in Johannesburg, which includes the agreed draft treaty text.

 

The UNEP Press Centre will be in Room 201, City Conference Centre.  It will be equipped with computers with Internet access, telephones, fax machine and photocopier for use of the press.  Press conferences are currently scheduled for 22 May and 23 May 2001 in Room 513.
