UNEP Chemicals, together with the UNEP Regional Office for West Asia and the
Ministry of Environment of Lebanon, organized a regional awareness
raising workshop on mercury pollution for West Asian countries in Beirut,
Lebanon, from 11 to 14 October 2004.
The workshop was attended by 16 countries in the region (two
representatives from each country), in addition to a number of invited
resource persons from Denmark, Finland and Sweden, IGOs (such as the Arab
League of Nations) and NGOs (such as the Friends of Environment
Society/Jordanian Network for Environmentally Friendly Industries).

or summary of the presentation given by each speaker in plenary during the
various sessions of the programme. For
