OECD Initial Assessment Reports for High Production Volume Chemicals&
including Screening Information Data Sets (SIDS)
Among the many objectives of UNEP Chemicals is to facilitate the access to information needed for health and environmental risk assessment of chemicals. As a collaborative activity with OECD, UNEP Chemicals has been publishing and distributing free of charge the OECD Initial Assessment Reports for High Production Volume Chemicals including Screening Information Data Sets (HPV SIDS). The publication of these data is a contribution to the Inter-Organization Programme for the Sound Management for Chemicals (IOMC) and constitutes a response of OECD and UNEP to the recommendations of UNCED Agenda 21, to accelerate assessments of chemicals and enhance information exchange.
The publications include assessment of the following information and data on HPV chemicals and their effects:
General Substance Information
Information on Exposure and Use
Physical Chemical Data
Environmental Fate and Pathways
Ecotoxicity Data
Human Health Data, including Experience with Human Exposure if available.
Whenever available, relevant data on regulatory measures from UNEP Chemicals’ ‘IRPTC Legal File’ have been added to provide further information to the reader.
In this version of the CD-ROM, you may search the SIDS documents for chemicals through either CAS numbers or by Chemicals names (arranged alphabetically).
Most of the documents on this CD-ROM are in PDF format and require a PDF reader to be installed. Future versions of the CD-ROM will provide a more advanced search capability. The CD-ROM are published by UNEP Chemicals and can be obtained by contacting:
