There are two sides to IRPTC's databank: one is data collection and validation ; the other is management of this data by computer, including dissemination to users.
IRPTC aims to maintain a storehouse of information adequate for an understanding of the hazards to health and the environment associated with toxic chemicals. Pharmaceuticals and radioactive substances are not included. It offers concise overviews of selected data on chemicals for evaluation purposes, called chemical data profiles . It also contains a Register Index that offers a "profile of the profiles", an indication of the substances covered, their current status, and the subject areas where information exists or is absent.
Data profiles are prepared by contributing network partners consultants and IRPTC staff. All data are verified by IRPTC staff. The steps involved are:
