Global POPs laboratory inventory

To evaluate the effectiveness of the Stockholm Convention according to article 16 of that Convention, a Workshop to Develop a POPs Global Monitoring Programme (GMP) was held at UNEP Chemicals in Geneva in March 2003. As a result of the workshop and its conclusions and recommendations a questionnaire for identifying potential laboratories that could participate in a network for the GMP was sent out. The responses are presented in this data base.

The information in the data base is solely based on the responses sent to UNEP Chemicals by the laboratories. UNEP Chemicals does not take the responsibility for the accuracy of the submitted information.

Based on the information submitted by the laboratories they have been divided into 4 tiers depending on the extent and level of their POPs analysis in the matrices that have been chosen for the monitoring program (milk, fish, mussels, marine mammals and birds and air). The tier assignment only refers to the capacities to perform analysis of the Stockholm Convention POPs and does not indicate over all performance of a laboratory.

For laboratories wishing to join the monitoring network, please fill in the questionnaire below and return it to UNEP Chemicals. If you wish to update the information for your laboratory, please also contact UNEP Chemicals at address given below.
