DISCUSSION GROUPS

The discussion group of the "Global Network for the Monitoring of Chemicals in the Environment" is an open forum on monitoring issues. The discussion group links participants of the Network and interested persons as technicians or scientists working with the monitoring of chemicals in the environment. Interested persons can subscribe to participate the discussion by filling the form. The space reserved to participants offer different services as information on conferences and available resources on monitoring chemicals in the environment.

The first discussion group focuses on different aspects of environmental monitoring such as:
programme/project design: goals, compounds, matrices, frequency, co-ordination, co-operation, data accessibility.
Sampling: harmonised programmes, guidelines, sampling period, metadata, techniques for different media, background problems, sample storage, sample preparation.
Analysis: guidelines, reference materials, QA/QC, extraction, cleanup, analytical techniques, intercalibrations.
Data processing: guidelines, statistical techniques, data storage, data communication, data formats.
Reports and publications.

A specific discussion group is dedicated to Conferences like, for example, important sessions for a possible UNEP conference for monitoring, announcements of other conferences, workshops, courses.
