Guidance & Information - Integrated Vector Management
WHO recommends a systematic approach to vector control based on evidence and knowledge of the local situation. This approach is called Integrated vector management (IVM), which is a decision-making process for the management of vector populations, so as to reduce or interrupt transmission of vector-borne diseases. An IVM approach takes into account the available health infrastructure and resources and optimally combine effective and appropriate measures, whether biological, environmental or chemical. The following guidance documents are available regarding the implementation of national IVM programs:
Malaria Control Today - Current WHO Recommendations, 2005
Global Strategic Framework for Integrated Vector Management, WHO, 2004
Guidelines for cost-effectiveness analysis of vector control - PEEM Guidelines 3, WHO, 1993
