The Regional Maps

General Remarks

These maps are provided to identify the location of sampling for the PTS data being contributed.  It is to be used only where a map reference for the sampling point is not available.  Each map has details of countries and major cities for particular areas of each region. City and country labels are automatically placed and may, in some cases, be positioned beside rather than exactly at the site being specified.  Countries or cities not labelled mean adequate space on the map was not available for a label.   The maps are a basic guide and knowledge of your region is assumed in the process of identifying the location of your sampling point on the relevant map.

Instructions

Each region is divided into sub-regions.  There is a map corresponding to each sub-region.   Each map is in a grid format with a code for each grid square on the map.   Every code has four characters and is placed in the center of each grid cell.  The code of the cell corresponding to the sampling point location is to be written into the ārea code´ field of the questionnaire being filled.  Click here for maps
