decision 24/3 adopted by the twenty-fourth session of the Governing
Council/Global Ministerial Environment Forum on 9 February 2007.
Through the Governing
Council decision 24/3 there are a number of actions to be taken by
Governments, in particular in relation to details of the information
requested in part III of the decision (Lead and cadmium). The
requested information on lead and cadmium should be submitted to UNEP
Chemicals by 30 September 2007

These details correspond to attachment IV of the
above-mentioned letter, which full version can

Attention is drawn to the fact that, as adopted in
Governing Council
decision 24/3 III, further action is needed to fill those gaps
[the data and information gaps identified in the United Nations
Environment Programme Interim Scientific Reviews on Lead and Cadmium],
taking into account the specific situation of developing countries
and countries with economies in transition and
to compile an inventory of existing risk management measures.

scientific information on lead and cadmium and in Annexes
I and II -section IX-
of the
report of the first meeting of the Lead and Cadmium Working Group.
In
order to ensure an open, transparent and inclusive process, all
information received by UNEP Chemicals are made available on a
running basis through this webpage. You
can access all the information
submitted below, depending on whether
the submitter was a Government, an
intergovernmental organization or a non-governmental organization.
Based on the above-mentioned received information, the interim
reviews of scientific information on lead and cadmium - Version of
March 2008-
were
circulated to
members of the
Lead and
Cadmium Working Group for comments
by 13th June 2008.
Those last round of
comments received from Governments, Intergovernmental organizations
or Non-governmental organizations have
also been included in the above-mentioned information
sections.
The draft final reviews of scientific information on lead and
cadmium -version of November 2008 - will be
presented to the
twenty-fifth session of the
Governing Council/Global Ministerial Environment Forum in February
2009.

appropriate to extend the deadline until the 31 December
2007. This new deadline for submitting information
applies to i) members of the working group who had/still have the
intention of submitting information and/or ii) members of the
working group who we had already contacted separately seeking
further guidance with regard to their submission(s). After this
deadline, it will not be guaranteed to include the information in
the reviews but they will only post it in this
