The
Summary of Supply, Trade, and Demand Information on Mercury summarises supply, trade and
demand information for mercury.
The report is based on
information provided by
governments and other stakeholders, as well as publicly available
comprehensive trade statistics for mercury for United Nations member states
(through the United Nations Commodity Trade Statistics Database or Comtrade
Background data (1995-2005 data) showing trade with other partner countries
were organized into data sheets for each individual country that routinely
submitted the relevant statistics to the UN Comtrade system. These
background data can be accessed here.
The report also includes mercury trade
information provided by UNIDO in relation to artisanal and small-scale gold
mining.
The report was presented to the UNEP
Governing Council in its 24th session February 2007.
